Transferring account ownership to someone else Print

  • 0

If you're selling a business, handing a project to a new owner, or just transferring everything to a different person, we can change the account holder. This is a manual process — it's the right amount of friction given the consequences.

What account ownership transfer means

A full ownership transfer changes:

  • The account holder name and contact details.
  • The sign-in email.
  • Who's billed for renewals.
  • Who has the right to make further changes (cancel services, request refunds, transfer ownership again, etc.).

It does not change anything about the underlying services — domains, hosting, VPS all keep running through the transition.

What it doesn't cover

This isn't the right path for:

  • Adding a collaborator — for that, change the account email to a shared address (team@yourcompany.com) or have the other person open their own account and we'll move specific services across.
  • Selling a single domain — domain transfers between Flashcloud accounts can be done without touching the account itself. Open a ticket and we'll move it.
  • Just changing the email — that's a simpler flow, see Changing the email on your account.

How to start a transfer

  1. Open a ticket with our billing team and request "account ownership transfer".
  2. Tell us:
    • The current account holder's name and email (you, presumably).
    • The new owner's name and email.
    • That both parties have agreed.
  3. We send a confirmation email to both the current holder and the new owner.
  4. Both must reply confirming the transfer.
  5. We schedule the change — usually within 1–2 business days.

Verification

We verify identity for both parties before transferring. Expect us to ask for:

  • Confirmation from the current account email of intent to transfer.
  • Confirmation from the new owner's email of intent to receive.
  • For higher-value accounts, a brief phone or video confirmation step.

This is friction-by-design — it protects you from anyone trying to take over your account fraudulently.

Pricing

Account ownership transfers are free for active accounts in good standing. There's no fee.

If the account has unpaid invoices, those need to be resolved before we transfer — typically the new owner pays them as part of the handover.

After transfer

  • The new owner signs in with the new email.
  • Two-factor authentication is reset during transfer — the new owner enrolls fresh.
  • Saved cards are removed; the new owner adds their own payment methods.
  • All services continue uninterrupted.

If you're the new owner and something looks off after the transfer completes, open a ticket immediately — easier to fix in the first day than weeks later.
